About Paula

10 years ago I opened belle vie a boutique design and flower store on Cuba St, with my good friend Rebecca Radford and gorgeous sister Katie Bevege who is an amazing florist. So the belle vie team was born. We all shared a passion for decorating and entertaining and came from long lines of retailers. From there we forged a niche in the industry as event and wedding stylists leading into event and wedding planning. Recently Katie and I have rebranded to Paula Bevege Events, an exciting change, new look, fresh ideas but the same commitment and drive we have always had.

I am blessed with 2 beautiful girls, Madeleine and Rose, who keep me in a total state of amazement, love and joy. My wonderful husband Blair (who has unexpectedly to him become very handy at tying a bow) supports me whole heartedly in everything I do. I have an incredible family who love and care for us and are always there to help run our household with my very unsociable work hours. There is nothing I enjoy more than spending time with family and friends with good wine, great food and of course an over decorated table.

My passion for flowers and weddings came from the hours spent with my great aunt as a child. She was an amazing florist, cake decorator and president of the NZ Rose society. We spent many weekends away at rose shows that she was judging. I will never forget the overwhelming fragrance and stunning displays. Saturday’s were my favourite day racing from wedding to wedding to see the bride coming out of the church, not much has changed.

Another great influence was my Grandmother, the ultimate hostess and the queen of etiquette. Helping with her renowned afternoon teas were always a highlight for me and stood me in good stead for a career in hosting.

Colour, patterns, fabric, textures and flowers are my favourite decorating items. My mother is a wonder woman of all things practical, she taught me to sew, knit, embroider, draw, cook, garden and hammer in a nail. These skills along with a background in textiles and visual merchandising enable me to not only design but to deliver.

A passion for all types of events has lead to me running Erskine Events in Island Bay a National Historic Building. My latest endeavour is owning the Wellington Wedding Show a new challenge I am very excited about!

I feel privileged to have such a varied career in a rewarding industry, hugs from happy clients make it all worthwhile.
